About Emily
I'm a Certified Nutritionist and Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor with a Masters in Nutrition Research. I've studied (and continue to explore) a range of mind-body practices, including mindfulness meditation, mindfulness-based self-compassion, herbal medicine, and cross-cultural spiritual practices.
My passion is to share the beautiful tradition of Ayurveda with anyone ready to receive it. Nothing fills my heart more than empowering people to find their own balance through mind-body practices like those from the Vedas.
Although life can sometimes be chaotic, if you learn to be your own "calm in the storm," nothing can stop you from getting what you want. My goal is to help you find your inner healer by illuminating the wisdom you already hold within your body and mind.
My Nutrition Philosophy
For over a decade, I've worked with clients and companies to educate people about health and wellness, and in this time, one thing has become abundantly clear; our food choices are rarely about food alone.
When we sit down to eat, we're not just making a decision from our true hunger, but rather a litany of other voices in our head that want to direct our eating behaviors. Whether these voices are the result of our own insecurities, conflicting information that we’re being fed from various health experts, or the strong opinions of others, the end result is always the same — we feel disempowered around our ability to nourish ourselves.
For most people, myself included, the nutrition and wellness space has become confusing at best — and chaotic at worst.
So where do we land? How do we nourish ourselves in a balanced and healthy way?
The answer comes down to you. While it’s true that the food you consume will have an impact on your biology, your mental and emotional state also plays a significant role in how well your body responds to that food. In other words, how you feel about what you eat matters just as much as the nutrients and compounds contained in your food.
I work with clients to shift their view of what nutrition is, and begin to define a new landscape where we don’t just give our body what we think it wants, we nourish it with what we know it needs.
This work goes beyond food, because nutrition is much more than the food you put in your mouth. True nourishment results from a combination of all of your inputs — sensory, emotional, mental, and physical.
Each of these aspects creates the fabric of who you are in this moment, and they lay the foundation for who you’re becoming. These inputs impact you on a physical and energetic level, not only sculpting your physical form but also shaping who you are emotionally and mentally. Unfortunately, we aren't taught the importance of true nourishment in school, so we turn to food to feel full when what we really want is to feel whole.
By expanding your view of what a human body is, you’ll see the whole of who you are - mind, body, and energy. From here we can start to uncover what you as an individual need for true nourishment.
Working together, you and I will explore what a healthy, balanced diet looks like for you as a unique individual. We'll also look at your cravings, aversions, and desires to illuminate where in your life you feel that you're lacking wholeness. Pulling from the ancient science of Ayurveda, as well as current clinical research, we'll put together a tailor-made plan for your journey back to you -- mind, body, and soul.
